This week sees the launch of a large-scale recruitment drive to fill over 1,000 positions at the Grand Central development in Birmingham city centre. Due to launch in September, the transformed New Street Station will be home to a range of shops and restaurants, and will be anchored by a 250,000 sq ft John Lewis – one of the retailer’s biggest branches outside of London.
Here at Big Cat, our fantastic PR team have secured coverage on the development and it’s job opportunities in a range of local print and online press, including Birmingham Post, Birmingham Mail and Express and Star.
In an effort to attract Birmingham’s job-seekers, Richard Brown, director of the development, commented: “Grand Central is committed to providing local jobs for local people; we want to ensure that the opportunities created by the new development are accessible to all and benefit Birmingham.
A mixture of retail, hospitality and customer service roles are available and training providers are looking to support local candidates in developing the right skills and attributes to meet the expectation of employers at Grand Central. To further promote the work opportunities, a jobs roadshow will be held throughout this month, with events promoting employment and training opportunities for Grand Central being staged at all 14 of the city’s Jobcentres, as well as a variety of community venues.
Anyone wishing to apply for a job needs to register with the National Careers Service. Find out more details here.
